St Matthew’s Parish Church

Commendation

St Matthew’s Parish Church in Bishopbriggs has undergone a transformational refurbishment, creating a new interior in the existing sanctuary, extending the side aisle, and providing new accessible facilities. The intention of the project was to restore the spirit of the original building, while embracing artistic contemporary interventions that are worthy of their setting. PagePark has worked closely with the parish and the Archdiocese of Glasgow over the last five years to bring the project to fruition. The Category C listed […]

Upper Parkbrae

Commendation

Our design is comprised of a timber and glass box, which is cantilevered above the landscape, and sited on a clay brick wall which runs both inside and outside of the house. A simple materials palette helps the building blend into the landscape, while large expanses of South-facing glass allow the house to benefit from solar gain, with the heating system fed by a combination of solar panel and the water-heating wood-burning stove.

20A Northburgh Street

Commendation

20A Northburgh Street – Noboro – in Clerkenwell was commissioned by CABU, a newly formed company specialising in prefabricated modular buildings, for their new London headquarters. Having designed the company’s modular offerings, we were asked to look at extending the vacant and somewhat forlorn ancillary building to the rear of the main properties of Great Sutton Street. The existing 100sqm building is typical of those found in the area and bears the trademark fletton bricks, crittal windows and prominent lintels […]

Hashtag Organics Repackaging

Commendation

Too Gallus was enlisted by Hashtag Organics to rebrand and reposition their company to allow them to step comfortably into the skincare and cosmetics market. Too Gallus were tasked with creating a brand which framed CBD skincare in a way which felt approachable, professional and trustworthy. To achieve this they opted for a 1 font 1 colour approach, one which omits all of the normal cannabis-related imagery and iconography in lieu of a more pharmaceutical and medical lead approach. Having […]

Commercial Quay Phase 1

Commendation

Situated on Commercial Street in Leith, these Category ‘A’ listed former bonded warehouses create an impressive street frontage to the south-west and the quayside to the north- east. Our client’s brief was to convert them into ‘edgy’ serviced office spaces. Once cool offices of the 90s, the buildings now looked tired and uninspiring. Our solution was to reinvigorate these warehouses delivering exemplary offices in both function and aesthetic by ‘de-furbing’ the spaces, exposing all the services, installing VRF heating and […]

Commercial Quay Phase 1

Commendation

These Category ‘A’ listed former bonded warehouses, once cool offices of the 90s, were looking tired and uninspiring when our client bought them in 2019. Our brief was to create cool office space, with a bespoke café and craft beer bar useable by both the tenants and the public, along with ‘unique’ break out spaces for the tenants. A number of café, bar and restaurant operators had vacated the ground floor units, so we were faced with the challenge of […]

The Scottish National Investment Bank

Commendation

An ambitious new development bank for a better Scotland.  The Scottish National Investment Bank is an entirely new mission-led institution for Scotland. Its primary objective is to invest in projects and businesses to deliver its missions and provide a commercial return for the benefit of the people of Scotland. As the name clearly provided a Scottish context, we wanted to avoid having any additional traditional Scottish cues. We felt that there were more interesting and original ways to express what it […]

Ayr Grammar

Commendation

The campus approach of gathering council services, while a pragmatic response to economic constraints, challenges educationalists’ and local communities’ perceptions of what a ‘school’ should be. This scheme’s potential goes beyond the provision of school space, as it promises to improve street connections– through its architecture and its activities –engage citizens with their heritage.  The original educational body that occupied the site, Ayr Academy, moved in 2017 citing the poor sport and landscape amenity as a significant factor. With the […]

Comely Bank

Commendation

Luke and Joanne McClelland renovated an Edinburgh period apartment to create a modern, sustainable and light-filled family home. They met while studying architecture at Edinburgh College of Art and, having spent the previous 8 years living in a small apartment in London, moved to Scotland in search of space. Spread over the drawing room levels of two Georgian townhouses in Edinburgh’s Comely Bank area, the apartment was in a poor state of repair when they bought it in early 2018. […]

The Spirit of London

Commendation

With Beefeater preparing to mark its 200th Anniversary, the team approached us to create a beautiful coffee table book that would serve not only as a celebration of the brand, but also as an exploration into Beefeater’s relationship with London, the wider world and the gin industry at large.  Not just another book about gin, this book takes a step back to explore the social, cultural, and contemporary surrounds of London Dry Gin, celebrating Beefeater as a constant within a landscape of contrast and change.  Unlike many books […]

The proposals comprise a wider masterplan for a total of 169 new build flats and maisonettes that have replaced a series of 6 storey deck access blocks from the 1960’s. Prior to redevelopment this was a part of the neighbourhood that felt disconnected and is now a cohesive pattern of clearly defined […]
