Spencer Courtyard is a development of five new dwellings created in a tight brownfield site in Finchley. The former disused timber yard presented several difficult problems to overcome before a coherent scheme emerged.   Extensively considered design from initial site investigation and layout, individual house arrangement to the choice of materials demonstrates the high quality of this design. The project comprises 48 flats and maisonettes for Southside Housing Association and extends the range of local accommodation for families of all different sizes ranging from 1-5 bedrooms. The proposals comprise a wider masterplan for a total of 169 new build flats and maisonettes that have replaced a series of 6 storey deck access blocks from the 1960’s. This project on the north side of Dublin Street Lane South and located with the New Town Conservation Area and World Heritage Site has seen the creation of two separate 3 bedroom dwellings, each over 3 storeys on a very tight and technically demanding site. Formerly occupied by redundant outbuildings and a makeshift car park, the gap site offered an opportunity to fill in and contribute towards an eclectic mix of mews style properties already on the lane. Gannochy Lifetime Neighbourhood

AK Bell, a noted philanthropist, constructed the original Housing Estate in 1923.  It provides high quality housing at mid-market rents. The new housing development provides  flexible  two bedroom homes which can  accommodate a range of  tenants  such as young ‘starter’  families, single people, downsizers, and people with physical and perceptual impairments (such as dementia) including those with a live-in carer.
